When is the best time to waterproof?
Before the monsoon, when surfaces are dry. Coatings bond best to a dry surface. If you're already seeing a leak, don't wait: seepage keeps damaging plaster and steel the longer it runs.
Can bathroom leakage be fixed without breaking tiles?
Often, yes. Many bathroom leaks come from failed grout and joints, and those can be sealed from the surface. If the membrane under the tiles has failed, the floor may need to be opened. Inspection tells us which one it is.
Which Mr. Fixx product do I need?
It depends on the surface. Bath Fix (2-component, 15 kg) is for bathrooms, sunken slabs and balconies. Super Fix Coat (2-component, 15 kg, resists up to 7 bar) is for basements, tanks, pools and industrial areas. Fixxy Coat (single component, UV resistant, 17 kg) is for exposed roofs, terraces and exterior walls. Hi Bond Latex (SBR, 17 kg) is for repairs, waterproof plaster and bonding coats. Will painting over damp walls fix the problem?
No. Paint hides damp for a few weeks, then it bubbles and peels again. You need to stop the water at its source first. Waterproof the surface, then paint.
